NEW YORK ' September 11, 2012 ' News Corporation today announced the appointment of Paul Cheesbrough to the role of Chief Technology Officer. In this position, he will be responsible for setting the Company's global technology strategy as well as coordinating with senior leaders across the organization to develop new digital products and expand the digital footprint of its portfolio of businesses. In addition, he will collaborate with technology teams at the publishing and education businesses and oversee the transition of IT systems relating to the Company's proposed separation into two distinct companies.
Mr. Cheesbrough will report directly to News Corporation Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch.

Mr. Cheesbrough most recently served as Chief Information Officer for News International. In this role he was responsible for the organization's technology strategy, delivery, transformation programs and digital products. Since joining News International in 2010, Mr. Cheesbrough has led enormous change at the company, moving it to more cloud-based technologies and putting innovation and engineering at the heart of the business.
Before joining News International, Mr. Cheesbrough served as Chief Information Officer at the Telegraph Media Group, where he pioneered the development of a wide range of new digital products. Prior to the Telegraph, he was the Controller of Digital Media for the BBC, having started his career in IBM within its media division.
