Cannes Roundup: Mia Wasikowska, Richard Ayoade, Jennifer Aniston, Ezra Miller

Summer In February
Speranza13 Media, the new sales company run by Camela Galano, has taken on international rights to Summer In February starring Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens along with Dominic Cooper and Emily Browning. Janette Day and Pippa Cross of CrossDay Productions are producing with Jeremy Cowdrey of Apart Films. Sales will start next week in Cannes on the period love triangle shot in Cornwall, England and directed by Christopher Menaul.

The Double
Richard Ayoade's comedy will  start principal photography May 20. The Submarine director's second film is inspired by Fyodor Dostoyevsky's novella. Ayoade and Avi Korine wrote the script about an insignificant man driven to near breakdown by the appearance of his doppelganger. Jesse Eisenberg, Mia Wasikowska, Wallace Shawn, Yasmin Paige, Noah Taylor and James Fox star. Amina Dasmal and Robin Fox of Alcove Entertainment are producing. Protagonist is handling international sales. Studiocanal has already acquired UK rights. Mars has France, Golden Scene has Hong Kong, Rialto has Switzerland and Lusomundo has Portugal.

Untitled Elmore Leonard Project
Ashok Amritraj's Hyde Park International is plying the upcoming Untitled Elmore Leonard Project in Cannes. Jennifer Aniston, Dennis Quaid, Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def), John Hawkes and Ty Burrell star in the Daniel Schechter-directed film adapted from Leonard's The Switch. Aniston's already starred in something called The Switch, likely leading to this film not having a title for the time being. Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lee Stollman are producing for the Gotham Group alongside Michael Siegel. James Garavente, Leonard, Aniston and Aleen Kashishian are exec producers. Story follows a housewife whose husband has been embezzling millions for years and keeping the cash in off-shore accounts without her knowledge. Two career criminals who know about his scam hatch a scheme to hold his wife for ransom. Double crosses, plot twists and violence ensue. Principal photography is set to begin later this year.

Madame Bovary
Radiant Films International is handling international rights to the period drama Madame Bovary starring Mia Wasikowska. Ezra Miller has joined the cast as Bovary's extramarital love interest. Paul Giamatti co-stars. Directed by Sophie Barthes from Rose Barrenche's adaptation of Gustave Flaubert's classic novel, Madame Bovary is produced by Joe Neurauter & Felipe Marino of Occupant Entertainment. Principal photography is set to begin this fall.
