PACKED! Deadline's 'The Contenders' Film Event: 13 Studios + 24 Films + 7 Moguls

UPDATE: Deadline Hollywood's 2nd Annual THE CONTENDERS Event about the movie awards season was held all day Saturday at LA's Landmark Theatre. I was very grateful going in that it was over-subscribed. But then, to my immense satisfaction, it turned out to be standing room only! Thanks to all the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Science voters who attended (and made up at least 80% of the invitation-only audience) as well as the 13 studios whose filmmakers presented 24 motion pictures. Not to be outdone, the 7 studio moguls engaged in a lively panel discussion. Later today I'll provide coverage of all sessions and in coming days videos from the film presentations. If you attended, please post a comment!

Once again, our specially invited AMPAS and Guild voters had the opportunity free-of-charge to hear directly from studio moguls and executives, actors, directors, writers, producers, cinematographers, costume designers, casting directors and others about this year's The Contenders. Here is the link to the activities.

We had 13 studios presenting 24 films including: The Master, Silver Linings Playbook, Django Unchained, Quartet, Intouchables, Bully, Flight, Anna Karenina, ParaNorman, Promised Land, Hitchcock, Argo, Cloud Atlas, The Dark Knight Rises, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Lincoln, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Impossible, Arbitrage, Smashed, Brave, Frankenweenie, Wreck-It Ralph and Bernie.

The 'Deadline Moguls Panel' was composed of Warner Bros' Jeff Robinov, Twentieth Century Fox's Jim Gianopulos, Sony Pictures Entertainment's Amy Pascal, Paramount's Rob Moore, Universal's Adam Fogelson,  Summit/Lionsgate's Rob Friedman, and DreamWorks' Stacey Snider who all discussed the challenges of this movie awards season.

Moderators were Deadline's Awards Columnist Pete Hammond, Film/NY Editor Mike Fleming, and Staff Reporter Dominic Patten.

So many invited guests attended the morning and afternoon sessions that they filled up the main theater and the overflow were accomodated in an adjoining area. A delicious lunch was provided by The Palm restaurant.

The Contenders sponsors included IMAX, Rentrak, Paradigm, Screen Engine, ZEFR Movie Clips, Reelz Channel, Urban Home, The Four Seasons Resort on Maui, and FoodInk Catering.
